How about your opinion mate?!

I have never rated him...all pace no er, football qualities?

PAFC_Ben
Yep same IMO. Great pace shame he cant pass, cross, shoot 99% of the time.

mjeh
i haven't even seen much of his pace this season

personally, i think he's a loser with lucky moments...

no football skills whatsoever...

silentsquidTHFC
He is Matthew Etherington Mk. II

Cant dribble, pass or cross.

whufc4life
You obviously aint seen Etherington play mate

Anyone on here who has read any of my posts about Chelsea should know exactly what I think of him.

2 goals in the last 2 games... big deal. He's still sh!t.

The goal against Man U was his first in the premier league in almost a year (his goal previous to this was against Liverpool on the last day of last season). This is just not good enough for a winger playing for one of the top 3 sides.

Steve Bruce has impressed me as a manager this past season, but if he's going to continue signing players of this terrible calibre, I'm goig to have to quickly re-assess what I think of him.

No chance, his staying at Chelscum.

Super_horns
He is quick... shame he cannot actually do much with the ball!

I agree with you all here, pace ok, skills not ok...

Still I think he can be an addition to a team like Birmingham...

SteveWHUFC
Load of crap. Can't see why Chelsea signed him in the first place. Not even UEFA cup quality.

Thank g-d!

I only had to endure about 2000 minutes of his crap last season.

Super_horns
Maybe Etherington hasn't QUITE got the quality for the top flight?

Michellington
Maybe Etherington hasn't QUITE got the quality for the top flight?

I also dont think hes quite ready yet, hes a great player but not good enough for the premiership and even Teale isnt good enough for the premiershipso i doubt Etherington is.

whufc4life
Etherington is good enough for the Premierhship IMO. Everyone goes on like you have to be the best player in the world to play there. erm, Aston Villa are 5th and Bolton 7th!

Also Matty outclassed Wolves when we played them and also Fulham...ask Freddy

silentsquidTHFC
Maybe for the ood game...but week in week out he's not even mediocre...atleast not when he was playing for us...

He seems to lack concentration and get frustrated very easily --> a bad performance.

Maybe he's okay in a successful (ish) side, but I dont think he'll be an asset if you come up, because it will be a real struggle.

whufc4life
He plays with confidence every week. He started slowly but has turned into one of the best left wingers in this country. He doesnt stop running, always gives it his all and his passing and crossing is getting better by the game.

He would cope in the Premierhsip no problem. As I said, if teams like Aston Villa can finish 5th, Bolton 7th and Charlton stay in 4th place for half the season, I dont think we will struggle as bad as everyone seems to think

Skinny
His main problem is inconsistancy.. You also never know quite what to expect from him from one game to the next..

SteveWHUFC
You also can't forget that he's still young and can only get better.

People are moaning about whether or not Etherington is good enough for the premiership when this is actually a thread about Gronkjaer's proposed move to Birmingham. Get over it.

If we liken Gronkjaer as a player to another who isn't good enough for the top flight (which thankfully, seems to be the general opinion anyway):
It's a team game. The individual players themselves may give you flashes of brilliance (or in Gronkjaers case, moments of luck that would make a lottery winner blush), but ultimately it's how the team functions as a whole that will determine whether those individuals deserve to be there.
Smith played in a team that got relegated, does that make him bad enough to not deserve a transfer to a apremiership club? I thought not.

There's no "I" in team, but there's a "me" if you look hard enough...
