Sky Predictions

Blackpool

The arrival of Latvian businessman Valery Belokon to the club's board this summer has given The Seasiders a major financial boost. So far, manager Simon Grayson has been modest with his summer dealings, but his side will be expected to push for a top-six place this season.

PREDICTED POSITION: 7th
STAR MAN: Keigan Parker
ONE TO WATCH: Wesley Hoolahan
SKYBET ODDS: 16/1
INS: Shaun Barker (Rotherham United), Danny Graham (Middlesbrough, loan), Wesley Hoolahan (Livingston, loan), Marcus Bean (Queens Park Rangers), Adrian Forbes (Swansea City), Paul Tierney (Livingston), Rhys Evans (Swindon Town)
OUTS: Peter Clarke (Southend United), Lewis Edge (Rochdale, loan), Neil Wood (Oldham Athletic), Jason Wilcox (Out of Contract), Danny Warrender (Out of Contract), Stuart Anderson (Out of Contract), Tony Butler (Out of Contract), Robert Edwards (Out of Contract), Leslie Pogliacomi (Oldham Athletic), Matthew Shaw (Out of Contract)

Bournemouth

Sean O'Driscoll's side were able to avoid the relegation trap door last season, but a lack of funds at Dean Court will likely mean another difficult campaign ahead for The Cherries. The sale of James O'Connor to Doncaster Rovers may prove a void in the back-line, as the club have tried to boost their ranks with talented youngsters.

PREDICTED POSITION: 18th
STAR MAN: James Hayter
ONE TO WATCH: Lionel Ainsworth
SKYBET ODDS: 66/1
INS: Lionel Ainsworth (Derby County, loan), Leon Best (Southampton, loan), Danny Hollands (Chelsea, loan), Daryl Taylor (Walsall)
OUTS: Jamie Whisken (Out of Contract), Kirk Hudson (Aldershot Town), Adam Griffiths (Brentford), James O'Connor (Doncaster Rovers)

Bradford City

Bantams boss Colin Todd has endured a frustrating time in the transfer market after releasing several first-team members at last season's end. The arrivals of Eddie Johnson and David Graham will boost Bradford's attack, but hopes of being in the top six look seemingly remote.

PREDICTED POSITION: 12th
STAR MAN: Dean Windass
ONE TO WATCH: Jermaine Johnson
SKYBET ODDS: 20/1
INS: Nathan Doyle (Derby County, loan), Lee Holmes (Derby County, loan), David Graham (Sheffield Wednesday, loan), Matthew Clarke (Darlington), Eddie Johnson (Crewe Alexandra), Jermaine Johnson (Tivoli Gardens, loan)
OUTS: Lewis Emanuel (Luton Town), Bobby Petta (Adelaide United), Danny Cadamarteri (Out of Contract), Kevin Sanasy (Out of Contract), Steve Claridge (Out of Contract), Andy Cooke (Shrewsbury Town), Lee Crooks (Out of Contract), Sam Denton (Out of Contract), Darren Holloway (Out of Contract), Thomas Kearney (Out of Contract), Owen Morrison (Dunfermline Athletic), Jake Wright (Out of Contract), Damion Stewart (Queens Park Rangers)

Brentford

Leroy Rosenior has a hard act to follow in Martin Allen, who led The Bees to the play-offs in the past two seasons. A number of key departures from Griffin Park this summer will likely diminish a repeat of those successes in South West London this coming season.

PREDICTED POSITION: 14th
STAR MAN: Lloyd Owusu
ONE TO WATCH: Adam Griffiths
SKYBET ODDS: 25/1
INS: Matty Heywood (Bristol City, loan), Thomas Pinault (Grimsby Town), Adam Griffiths (Bournemouth), Christian Moore (Dagenham & Redbridge), Jo-Osei Kuffour (Torquay United)
OUTS: Sam Sodje (Reading), Marcus Gayle (Aldershot Town), Michael Turner (Hull City), Eddie Hutchinson (Out of Contract), Jay Tabb (Coventry City), Isaiah Rankin (Grimsby Town), Michael Dobson (Walsall)

Brighton & Hove Albion

After relegation from The Championship last season, The Seagulls face a tricky task trying to bounce straight back up after one season. Manager Mark McGhee has virtually the same squad to work with from last season and that familiarity may bode well for the campaign ahead.

PREDICTED POSITION: 6th
STAR MAN: Colin Kazim-Richards
ONE TO WATCH: Alex Revell
SKYBET ODDS: 20/1
INS: Tony Stokes (West Ham United, loan), Alex Revell (Braintree Town)
OUTS: Sebastien Carole (Leeds United), Jason Dodd (Eastleigh), Mark McCammon (Doncaster Rovers), Alexis Nicolas (Out of Contract), Federico Turienzo (Out of Contract)

Bristol City

Gary Johnson's side are expected to make a serious promotion push in his first full season as Robins boss. The West Country club have reinforced well in attack and in the back-line for the new campaign and much will be expected of the Ashton Gate outfit this term.

PREDICTED POSITION: 3rd
STAR MAN: Marcus Stewart
ONE TO WATCH: Liam Fontaine
SKYBET ODDS: 6/1
INS: James McAllister (Hearts), Liam Fontaine (Fulham), Phil Jevons (Yeovil Town), Chris Weale (Yeovil Town), Enoch Showunmi (Luton Town), Jamie McCombe (Lincoln City)
OUTS: Luke Wilkshire (Twente Enschede), Matty Heywood (Brentford, loan), David Partridge (Leyton Orient, loan), Nathan Abbey (Torquay United), Steve Phillips (Bristol Rovers), Clayton Fortune (Leyton Orient), Jamie Smith (Milton Keynes Dons), Oliver Barnes (Bristol Rovers)

Carlisle United

Two straight promotions under Paul Simpson will be a hard act to follow for his successor Neil McDonald at Brunton Park. They have added pace in attack in the form of Kevin Gall from Yeovil Town, but a third straight promotion season may be a leap too far for The Cumbrians.

PREDICTED POSITION: 10th
STAR MAN: Michael Bridges
ONE TO WATCH: Dan Kirkup
SKYBET ODDS: 25/1
INS: David Raven (Liverpool), Kevin Gall (Yeovil Town)
OUTS: Glenn Murray (Stockport County, loan), Raphael Nade (Weymouth, loan), Paul Simpson (Retired), Lee Andrews (Torquay United)

Cheltenham Town

Whaddon Road boss John Ward has not brought in any new faces after the club's success in League Two play-offs last season. The Gloucestershire club have actually done well to keep key squad members, like veteran striker Steve Guinan. Despite a familiar squad, Cheltenham will do well to stay up this term.

PREDICTED POSITION: 21th
STAR MAN: Grant McCann
ONE TO WATCH: Ashley Vincent
SKYBET ODDS: 100/1
INS: None.
OUTS: Michael Taylor (Halifax Town)

Chesterfield

Roy McFarland's side finished six points clear of the bottom four last season and, despite a handful of new signings, The Spireites are likely to end up in bottom half of the table again. The signing of striker Paul Shaw may provide a goalscoring boost for the Saltergate outfit.

PREDICTED POSITION: 16th
STAR MAN: Wayne Allison
ONE TO WATCH: Michael Jordan
SKYBET ODDS: 40/1
INS: Michael Jordan (Arsenal), Kevan Hurst (Sheffield United, loan), Paul Shaw (Rotherham United), Phil Picken (Manchester United)
OUTS: Colin Heath (Macclesfield Town), Tcham N'Toya (Notts County)

Crewe Alexandra

Dario Gradi's side will struggle to make a quick jump back to The Championship following last season's relegation. Several players went through the Gresty Road exit door this summer, while two new faces have joined The Railwaymen for the new campaign.

PREDICTED POSITION: 11th
STAR MAN: Luke Rodgers
ONE TO WATCH: Darran Kempson
SKYBET ODDS: 20/1
INS: Darran Kempson (Morecambe), Julian Baudet (Notts County)
OUTS: Chris McCready (Tranmere Rovers), Adrian Moses (Lincoln City), Justin Cochrane (Rotherham United), Steve Jones (Burnley), Steve Foster (Burnley), Juan Ugarte (Out of Contract), Kenny Lunt (Sheffield Wednesday), Richard Walker (Port Vale), Andrew Bond (Out of Contract), Alex Morris (Out of Contract), Anthony Tonkin (Out of Contract), Kyle Wilson (Out of Contract)

Doncaster Rovers

Things seem on the up with Dave Penney's side, despite losing winger Michael McIndoe to Barnsley. Donny have brought in new faces and will also be moving to a new stadium later in the season. A top six finish will be expected from the South Yorkshire club.

PREDICTED POSITION: 4th
STAR MAN: Paul Heffernan
ONE TO WATCH: Rob Pacey
SKYBET ODDS: 9/1
INS: Mark McCammon (Brighton & Hove Albion), Jonathan Forte (Sheffield United, loan), Bruce Dyer (Sheffield United), James O'Connor (Bournemouth), Kevin Horlock (Ipswich Town), Adam Lockwood (Yeovil Town)
OUTS: Michael McIndoe (Barnsley), Phil McGuire (Dunfermline Athletic), Neil Roberts (Wrexham), Jermaine McSporran (Chester City), David Mulligan (Scunthorpe United), Mark Albrighton (Boston United)

Gillingham

An improved campaign is expected from Ronnie Jepson's Gills after their mid-table finish last season. Goalkeeper Jason Brown may have left for Blackburn Rovers, but striker Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu should boost Gillingham's attack.

PREDICTED POSITION: 9th
STAR MAN: Brent Sancho
ONE TO WATCH: Mark Corneille
SKYBET ODDS: 16/1
INS: Kelvin Jack (Dundee), Clint Easton (Wycombe Wanderers), Mark Bentley (Southend United), Duncan Jupp (Southend United), Dean McDonald (Ipswich Town), Gary Mulligan (Sheffield United), Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu (Cardiff City)
OUTS: Jason Brown (Blackburn Rovers), Akwasi Fobe-Edusei (Out of Contract), Gavin Grant (Out of Contract), Chris Hope (Out of Contract), Richard Rose (Out of Contract), John Wallis (Out of Contract)

Huddersfield Town

Despite losing in the play-offs to eventual winners Barnsley, Terriers boss Peter Jackson has kept faith with most of the squad from last season. The additions of goalkeeper Matthew Glennon and Luke Beckett should only boost their promotion aspirations.

PREDICTED POSITION: 5th
STAR MAN: Luke Beckett
ONE TO WATCH: Michael Collins
SKYBET ODDS: 14/1
INS: Matthew Glennon (St Johnstone), Luke Beckett (Oldham Athletic)
OUTS: Junior Mendes (Notts County), Anthony Carss (Out of Contract), Phil Senior (Out of Contract)

Leyton Orient

Martin Ling's side needed the final game of last season to win promotion, but the East Londoners may have to be content with consolidation this season. The loss of Gabriel Zakuani to Fulham will create a void in Orient's back-line.

PREDICTED POSITION: 23rd
STAR MAN: Shane Tudor
ONE TO WATCH: Derek Duncan
SKYBET ODDS: 40/1
INS: Clayton Fortune (Bristol City), David Partridge (Bristol City, loan), Wayne Corden (Scunthorpe United)
OUTS: Gabriel Zakuani (Fulham)

Millwall

Relegation brought change at The Den, with new boss Nigel Spackman making no less than 14 new signings during the summer. The Lions will have a new look, but may struggle to settle in the early stages.

PREDICTED POSITION: 8th
STAR MAN: Jody Morris
ONE TO WATCH: Adam Cottrell
SKYBET ODDS: 12/1
INS: Zoumana Bakayoko (Paris Saint Germain), Chris Hackett (Hearts), Samy-Oyame Mawene (Caen), Neal Ardley (Cardiff City), Poul Hubertz (Aalborg), Derek McInnes (Dundee United), Chris Day (Oldham Athletic), Richard Shaw (Coventry City), Tom Brighton (Clyde), Filipe Morais (Chelsea), Zak Whitbread (Liverpool), Lenny Pidgeley (Chelsea), Gavin Grant (Out of Contract), Adam Cottrell (Charlton Athletic)
OUTS: Sammy Igoe (Bristol Rovers), David Livermore (Hull City), Barry Hayles (Plymouth Argyle)

Northampton Town

Strangely, promotion brought changes at The Sixfields Stadium, with John Gorman taking charge for the departed Colin Calderwood. The signing of Northern Ireland international James Quinn will add some experience up front.

PREDICTED POSITION: 15th
STAR MAN: Scott McGleish
ONE TO WATCH: Danny Green
SKYBET ODDS: 25/1
INS: James Quinn (Peterborough United), Joe Burnell (Wycombe Wanderers), Sam Aiston (Tranmere Rovers), Andy Holt (Wrexham)
OUTS: Ashley Westwood (Chester City), Martin Smith (Darlington), Josh Low (Leicester City), Jason Lee (Notts County), Jamie Hand (Chester City), Gavin Johnson (Out of Contract), David Rowson (Out of Contract)

Nottingham Forest

Widely tipped by many to win League One this season, former Northampton Town boss Colin Calderwood has been set the task of taking the two-time European Cup winners back to The Championship, despite only signing goalkeeper Paul Smith from Southampton.

PREDICTED POSITION: 1st
STAR MAN: Nathan Tyson
ONE TO WATCH: James Beaumont
SKYBET ODDS: 7/2
INS: Paul Smith (Southampton)
OUTS: Alan Rogers (Out of Contract), Eugen Bopp (Rotherham United), Eugene Dadi (Out of Contract), Paul Evans (Out of Contract), Paul Gerrard (Out of Contract), Gareth Taylor (Out of Contract)

Oldham Athletic

John Sheridan enters his first full season with a different squad from the one that finished last season at Boundary Park. Several senior players have moved on from The Latics and that may make an impact on the coming campaign.

PREDICTED POSITION: 17th
STAR MAN: Richie Wellens(****) Not Edited By Keigan
ONE TO WATCH: Moussa Dabo
SKYBET ODDS: 20/1
INS: Neil Wood (Blackpool), Moussa Dabo (Racing Club de Paris), Craig Rocastle (Sheffield Wednesday), John Mullin (Rotherham United), Leslie Pogliacomi (Blackpool), Gary McDonald (Kilmarnock)
OUTS: Guy Branston (Peterborough United), Gareth Owen (Stockport County, loan), Jason Taylor (Stockport County), Luke Beckett (Huddersfield Town), Chris Day (Millwall), Richard Butcher (Peterborough United), Terrell Forbes (Yeovil Town), Danny Hall (Shrewsbury Town), Scott Spencer (Everton), David Eyres (Out of Contract)

Port Vale

Six new faces have arrived at Vale Park this summer, but Martin Foyle's side are likely facing a battle to remain clear of the relegation trap door this season.

PREDICTED POSITION: 19th
STAR MAN: Chris Birchall
ONE TO WATCH: Joe Cardle
SKYBET ODDS: 40/1
INS: Colin Miles (Yeovil Town), Danny Whitaker (Macclesfield Town), Paul Harsley (Macclesfield Town), Akpo Sodje (Darlington), Jason Talbot (Mansfield Town), Richard Walker (Crewe Alexandra)
OUTS: Tony Dinning (Stockport County), Michael Cummings (Darlington), Sean Doherty (Accrington Stanley), Craig James (Out of Contract), Jonathon Brain (Out of Contract), Steve Rowland (Out of Contract), Hector Sam (Out of Contract)

Rotherham United

After falling into deep financial trouble last season, The Millers have been a handed a 10-point deduction to start the new campaign. It leaves Alan Knill's side with a mountain of a task to survive in League One this season.

PREDICTED POSITION: 24th
STAR MAN: Will Hoskins
ONE TO WATCH: Liam King
SKYBET ODDS: 150/1
INS: Eugen Bopp (Nottingham Forest), Dave Hibbert (Preston North End, loan), Martin Woods (Sunderland), Pablo Mills (Derby County), Justin Cochrane (Crewe Alexandra), Ian Sharps (Tranmere Rovers), Delroy Facey (Tranmere Rovers), Ritchie Partridge (Sheffield Wednesday), Scott Wiseman (Hull City, loan)
OUTS: Shaun Barker (Blackpool), Michael Boulding (Mansfield Town), Jamal Campbell-Ryce (Southend United), Jonathan Hedge (Out of Contract), Paul McLaren (Tranmere Rovers), John Mullin (Oldham Athletic), Paul Shaw (Chesterfield), Martin Butler (Walsall), Phil Gilchrist (Out of Contract), Scott Minto (Retired), Andy Monkhouse (Out of Contract)

Scunthorpe United

Iron boss Brian Laws will hope to edge closer to the play-offs place this season, but a struggle to avoid relegation may be more realistic for the Glanford Park outfit.

PREDICTED POSITION: 22th Karen won't like that at all
STAR MAN: Billy Sharp
ONE TO WATCH: Ramon Calliste
SKYBET ODDS: 50/1
INS: Ramon Calliste (Liverpool), David Mulligan (Doncaster Rovers), Joe Murphy (Sunderland)
OUTS: Nathan Stanton (Rochdale), Richie Ryan (Boston United), Peter Beagrie (Grimsby Town), Paul Musselwhite (Eastleigh), Wayne Corden (Leyton Orient), Andy Parton (Out of Contract), Tommy Johnson (Tamworth)

Swansea City

The play-off defeat to Barnsley would have been painful for The Swans, but it such an experience that could spur Kenny Jackett's side to complete the job and win promotion to The Championship.

PREDICTED POSITION: 2nd
STAR MAN: Lee Trundle
ONE TO WATCH: Shaun MacDonald
SKYBET ODDS: 10/1
INS: Andy Oakes (Walsall), Kevin Amankwaah (Yeovil Town), Thomas Butler (Hartlepool United), Darren Pratley (Fulham)
OUTS: Roberto Martinez (Chester City), Mark Pritchard (Aldershot Town), Samuel Ricketts (Hull City), Marc Goodfellow (Bury), Adrian Forbes (Blackpool), Brian Murphy (Out of Contract)

Tranmere Rovers

Ronnie Moore takes charge of a new-look Rovers side after parting Oldham Athletic. The former Rotherham United boss has made some useful signings during the summer.

PREDICTED POSITION: 13th
STAR MAN: Chris Shuker
ONE TO WATCH: Shane Cansdell-Sherriff
SKYBET ODDS: 16/1
INS: Chris McCready (Crewe Alexandra), Chris Shuker (Barnsley), Paul McLaren (Rotherham United), Gavin Ward (Out of Contract), Kevin Ellison (Hull City), Robbie Stockdale (Hull City)
OUTS: Delroy Facey (Rotherham United), Ian Sharps (Rotherham United), Sam Aiston (Northampton Town), Steve Wilson (Out of Contract)

Yeovil Town

After parting ways with Grimsby Town, Russell Slade arrived at Huish Park and made several changes to the squad he inherited. The loss of Phil Jevons and Kevin Gall are sure to have an impact on Yeovil's attack, despite eight new players signing on with the Somerset club.

PREDICTED POSITION: 20th
STAR MAN: Paul Terry
ONE TO WATCH: Gavin McCallum
SKYBET ODDS: 66/1
INS: Lee Morris (Leicester City), Chris Cohen (West Ham United), Terrell Forbes (Oldham Athletic), Jean-Paul Kamudimba Kalala (Grimsby Town), Wayne Gray (Southend United), Steve Mildenhall (Grimsby Town), Darren Behcet (West Ham United), Stephen Maher (Dublin City)
OUTS: Kevin Amankwaah (Swansea City), Phil Jevons (Bristol City), Chris Weale (Bristol City), Colin Miles (Port Vale), Michael Rose (Stockport County), Steve Collis (Southend United), Kevin Gall (Carlisle United), Dale Williams (Shrewsbury Town), Adam Lockwood (Doncaster Rovers), Stephen Reed (Torquay United)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hmm some interesting points from Sky Sports. He has a few predictions right, Scunthorpe should go back where they deserve to be and well we should be up there pushing for Promotion

Rotherham hopefully will bring back that deficit and get out of trouble. Also one thing is that if Cheltenham want to stay in this league id say they need more players than well what they have currently got!

Good Luck All For The Coming Season!

Sky is pretty rubbish at predictions, I used to think they were one of the worse in fact. That is until you came onto this website and started giving your opinions on what position teams would finish.

Re: Sky Predictions

Does any non club aligned journalist actually dedicatedly cover sub championship football. All of these predictions have been so half arsed its not funny. That has nothing to do with Oldham being predicted to finish 17th.

Kamara says we have a shot at playoffs, and he works for the same network. No expectations generally means good things though.

Re: Sky Predictions

I had to laugh at that one Shrimpers. It wont let me quote you now so nevermind.

But seriously, with the players brought in, we're going to be up there. Forget what I said last year, I made an arse of myself I admit it.

This year is totally different, I KNOW we have the players this year. We just now have to use the team to our advantage.

Re: Sky Predictions

Tranmere, Crewe, Vale, and I hate to say Bradford are all underrated there

Blackpool and Chesaterfield are overated

don't get me wrong, I think Blackpool will have a good season, but a good season would be about 12th compared to last season.

Tranmere's is the most ridiculous prediction of the lot, and Crewe being 11th is a joke.

Thought you'd struggle after selling Birchall to Covebtry but fair play, you've got off to a decent start, still think midtable is your likely finish though, very early days for all concerned

Yea i agree with the mid table bit, hoping for a good season and a bit of luck we can finish top 10. We wont miss Birchy, glad we cashed in on him before he was out of contract Tbh, He played amazing at the world cup but was never that good for vale, still was a fans favourite though.

Disagree, after they spent a fair bit of money trying to go up last year they have got rid of some good players, Mid table at best imo.
